Over the next two years Playbox Theatre explore a strand of programming inspired by Greek drama, myth, literature, art and culture. A true Greek Odyssey.
Opening the project is MEDEA by Euripides reimagined by Mike Bartlett.
Her husband gone and a future looking bleak, Medea is imprisoned in her marital home. She has left her job, can’t sleep, can’t cope. While her child plays, Medea plots her ultimate revenge.
Playbox give a strikingly contemporary version of Euripides’ great tragedy exploring how, in our world, our town, our neighbourhood, a woman might be driven to commit the worst possible crime.
The ensemble, directed by Consultant Director Stewart McGill, features 17-year-old Teagan Gough as Medea with Hayden Coward as Jason, Paige Cooper as Sarah, Eilidh Evans as Pam, Jamie Whitelaw as Andrew, Milli Sispal as Nicole, Dylan Marshall as Workman and Daniel Travis as Medea’s son Tom with Beatriz Sanchez as Kate.
