Shakespeare’s Henry 1V inspired by the 1964 movie by Orson Welles.

The 2023 celebration of the publication of Shakespeare’s First Folio concludes with a production inspired by Orson Welles movie of Falstaff, Chimes At Midnight.
This panorama of the end of an era in England tells of the young Prince Hal and his route to being the King of England.
Adapting the Henry 1V plays, Welles also drew on Henry V and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
As we question the future of Monarchy and the lives of our young Royals, the plays have a timely resonance. Stewart McGill directs with an ensemble cast spanning roles from Court to Tavern to Battlefield.
Surrounding the production will be Talks, Displays and Fringe events creating an Autumn mini-Festival for Warwick.
The Ash Girl in a retelling by Holly Robinson. A Playbox Commission.
Dates: 16th-30th December 2023
One of the world’s most loved stories has been in existence for thousands of years across many cultures and continents. Although we may associate the story with the 18th Century and the development of Pantomime, the origins lie much further back. The whole world has its variations on Cinderella.
Holly Robinson, whose plays have been seen at Soho Theatre and the Vault Festival, has been commissioned to write this year’s Christmas production. The story remains in tact with its popular and well loved characters in the World Premiere, directed by Artistic Director, Emily Quash.
Christmas at Playbox Theatre is, as one would expect, a wonderful time of year and this year is no exception with a fantastic new show for all the family.
Across Playbox Theatre, this Autumn there will be a huge programme for all ages to participate in, including creative arts workshops, advanced training in theatre, voice, and musical theatre, dance and immersive participation for the very young in their own state of the art studio.
A full Autumn Season brochure will be available from Mid-July.
