Playbox Theatre, Warwick
15th March 2024
Serving the region and based at The Dream Factory in Warwick, Playbox enters its 38th Year of being, and celebrates the 25th birthday of its unique centre, The Dream Factory, with an expansive and diverse programme of training, opportunities, and performance for 0-19 yrs.
Playbox Theatre first opened its doors in September 1986, with Founding Director Mary King at the helm. Its original location was nearby Leek Wootton where Mary developed the original, winning formula, of theatre arts with children. Since that time, Playbox has worked with over 500,000 young people across the region, celebrating the creativity and artistic potential of every child.
The Creative Partnership with Warwick District Council, of which we are enormously proud, enables Playbox to reach out across all communities from our Warwick base, with far-reaching participation programmes in the arts, and challenging productions of global classical and contemporary drama. It also supports the expansion of a growing programme of community events, for Warwick families that take place at The Dream Factory on a daily basis – free, inclusive, creative and fun-filled, helping to build strong and supportive local relationships.
Artistic Director, Emily Quash, said today, “We are really proud to be Creative Partners of Warwick District Council. Being a vibrant part of the town and the region has always been crucial to Playbox Theatre’s work – it is where we are rooted, where we have grown, and our commitment to local young people and their families remains unwavering. The support of Warwick District Council demonstrates a belief in our work and our ambitions, and we look forward to the collaboration that lies ahead.”
Warwick District Council say, “We are excited to announce a new round of Creative Partnerships between Warwick District Council and Playbox Theatre. Over the next three years we will continue working together to support the strategic priorities of the districts Creative Framework which include Voice, Engagement, Pathfinding, Place Making, and Innovation. These efforts combined will provide inspiration and opportunity for all.”
