Millennial Wizard was founded on the streets of the Edinburgh Fringe, when our own Ed Buckley came out with the worst idea for a skit we’d ever heard…
“What if there was a wizard making a potion, but he was like, a millennial?”
Our mission to improve his terrible comic idea has evolved into a mission to make great theatre, for everyone, not just Ed. With only a studio, a pocket money budget, and our little brains, this year will push us to work with what we’ve got, to be magic-makers, conjuring great performances with our imaginations alone. We will push ourselves to overcome problems and challenges we identify, and we strive to produce interesting, unexpected and unique pieces with our ragtag team of theatre wizards!
We’ll begin with a re-imagining of a classic, then take on original writing, and then… who knows?
So our mission is to be interesting. For our audience as well as ourselves. To surprise ourselves with what we can achieve when we begin with a blank page.
…And of course, world peace!
A dark and witty revenge tragedy, suitable for ages 14+, the production was staged in the intimate Studio space at Playbox for two nights only.
In Webster’s tale of love and lies, the Duchess navigates a court controlled by her brothers through lies, bribes, and threat. Her fight to choose her own love will lead her, and those she loves, to face the most brutal of consequences.
This moving two-hander was performed by Corin Alford and Amelie Friess in the studio space.
The play follows Caroline, a girl housebound by liver failure. When Anthony arrives with a school project that needs saving, their night becomes an exploration of youth, love, and mortality, with an extraordinary twist.
