Playbox Theatre seek a lively, enthusiastic person with high levels of commitment and work ethic to join their Customer Relations Team for an initial 3-month contract. This post is central to our guest care policy and vital in ensuring that The Dream Factory is a safe and welcoming venue for all ages.
Reporting to the Customer Relations Team Manager, responsibilities as House Manager will include:
Health and Safety Supervision within The Dream Factory during all public events.
Supervision and organisation of the company’s Front of House volunteer staff for performances.
Supervision of Box Office Staff and Information Officers on duty during performances.
To request Risk Assessment procedures from all production directors and to identify potential hazards in advance.
Liaison with chaperones, Stage Management and Playbox Theatre directors to ensure respect of policy regarding customer care.
Supervision of programme and merchandise sales at performances.
To be a friendly and supporting ‘face’ of Playbox Theatre Company, able to deal with a host of public enquiries – some simple, some complex. All with a calm and understanding demeanour.
Meeting and greeting VIP’s to Playbox Theatre Company and special visiting projects.
Liaise with our Catering Manager and Marketing/Press officer to ensure VIP’s receive hospitality.
Playbox Theatre requires a House Manager with a calm and engaging personality for this important role. A love of theatre and the performing arts will help as will a real enjoyment of dealing with the general public who make up our diverse and demanding audiences.
Responsibilities as Receptionist will include:
To act as a point of information on all matters relating to Playbox Theatre at The Dream Factory.
To provide excellent customer service at all times in a calm and friendly manner.
To undertake sales and Box Office duties.
To be in attendance and act as point of information during Playbox Theatre sessions and productions, according to Rota planning.
To take pride in the front of house area and always strive to keep it clean and tidy , help café clear tables at busy times, reset after busy periods, even hoover when necessary.
To assist on party set up when needed.
To undertake a range of office administrative duties including handling a high volume of emails enquiries, receiving and making telephone calls, typing of documents, inputting data, filing and photocopying.
To be a friendly and supporting face of Playbox Theatre, able to deal with a host of public enquiries – some simple, some complex – all with a calm and understanding demeanor.
To liaise with the Membership Director when dealing with Membership enquiries.
To be superbly resourceful at all times.
You should have the following skills:
Enjoy a role that involves using communication skills to a high standard.
A willingness for flexibility outside of regular hours where needed.
A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and be generally IT literate.
Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
Excellent organisational skills and timekeeping.
Be prepared to approach the general public and interact with confidence.
A willingness to undergo basic First Aid training.
It is expected that the post holder will live in the Warwickshire region where Playbox Theatre is based.
Average 12 hours per week, starting at £8.50 per hour.
Regular days during season time will be Mon 4-9pm, Tues 4-8.30pm and Thurs 4-8pm, plus some weekend work. A flexible approach to hours is desirable, as these will increase during show runs. Hours vary depending on performance schedule – see website for details.
All staff employed by Playbox Theatre are required to obtain a DBS check.
