Open evening 10th September This month, across the region, Playbox Theatre’s young members will return to discover a re-imagined Dream Factory in Warwick, exciting training courses for all ages 3-21, a strong season of productions and the finest equipped auditorium for young people’s theatre in the country. Playbox Theatre invite those with an interest in the development of young people to explore the re-imagined Dream Factory, Stratford Road, Warwick on Tuesday 10th September 2019, 5-7pm. The directors, consultants, staff and members will give insights into how the theatre works, training and performance. We invite you to join is to enjoy the launch of theatre for the next generation. Playbox Theatre enters its 34th year with the mandate to develop the skills, talent and confidence of the next generation of artists. The company, with funding from Arts Council England, Warwick District Council RUCIS Fund, Warwick Town Council, Friends of Playbox and supporters amounting to £150,000 ensures that The Dream Factory, Warwick can serve the members and audiences in the years ahead. A newly installed technical infrastructure, new digital media studio, completely new front of house and signage, new storage facilities and expanded wardrobe alongside a relocated administrative block. The Dream Factory opened in May 1999 as the first stand alone, purpose built and designed theatre for young people in the UK. Today it reinforces its unique status. The autumn season of productions explores how humanity is at the centre of all drama with: STRIKES - 5th – 12th October A documentary drama set in 1911 exploring the wave of school strikes across the country. MEDEA - 7th – 9th November Euripides’ terrifying tragedy of loss and revenge in Mike Bartlett’s adaptation. GRETEL - 20th – 31st December Toby Quash’s new Playbox Theatre commission re-exploring the story of Hansel and Gretel for today. All this plus SK Shlomo on 2nd November with his new show for families SHLOMO’S BEATBOX ADVENTURE FOR KIDS. Alongside studio events, seasonal specials and cabaret evenings.
