OUT GOES THE HORROR… IN COMES THE JOY

Playbox Theatre’s summer nights with Anton Chekhov bring farce to the arena with UNDER THE SUMMER STARS

Playbox Theatre’s Extraordinary Voyages season in-the-round has faced, head on, the personal, political and immediate situations we found ourselves facing in 2017. Through powerful, global dramas Playbox has not side-stepped the core issues of our time with its ground-breaking work with young people.

Now… comes joy!

As the powerful drama Life Raft sets sail Playbox Theatre’s Resident Ensemble invite audiences to enjoy two Chekhov one-act farces under the generic title Under The Summer Stars, The Proposal and The Wedding show Chekhov at his farcical best exploring money, land, marriage and larger than life characters as their near hysterical situations boil over.

Playbox Resident Ensemble move towards the end of their year with entertainment in-the-round, in a garden setting with the plays moving from the late afternoon to starry evening. Perfect as our nights extend and we enjoy summer.

The Proposal features Charlie Davis, Claudia Musson and Priya Edwards.

The Wedding features Joe Lydick, Lynton Appleton, Sammie Horton, Joe Banks, Cameron Scriven, Chloe Jones, Laura Woodhouse, Grace Martin, Martha Markham, Juliette Duffey and Nancy Hall.

In productions directed by Mary King and Stewart McGill.
