Life Raft

Directed by Emily Quash

Adapted by Fin Kennedy from Georg Kaiser’s ‘The Raft of The Medusa’

We’re not savages. We won’t let the strong take from the weak.

Tomorrow morning, we will meet again, and we will all make our case.

A background of war – a lifeboat filled with children is adrift at sea after their passenger liner is sunk by an unknown enemy. Darkness falls, rations dwindle as fear, madness and superstition take hold. Fin Kennedy’s contemporary adaptation of Kaiser’s The Raft of The Medusa inspired by a true World War II story reveals a new perspective for our times.

Life Raft is a harrowing insight into humankind’s instinct to judge and where your survival lies in the hands of those making the judgements.

Age Recommendation: 8+ years – the piece contains strong language and depictions of violence that younger audience members may find distressing.
