Full Steam Ahead for Christmas


Christmas is happening at Playbox this year!


We are delighted to tell you that we are creating an exciting staging of the novel, loved by generations, THE RAILWAY CHILDREN


As audience social distancing will, most likely, still be in place we are creating a space within our auditorium that can sit families, couples and individuals in a unique format that we have devised for this show. Our audience numbers will be limited per performance however, we have very exciting multi-media ideas, to bring everyone together in a




A story of love, hope, trust and joy that reaches all ages. We feel this is perfect for our Christmas show this year.


Auditions: Saturday 26th September 2020 1-5pm ages and time to be announced later.


The creative plan is to have two casts in the show to enable a wider chance for our young actors to participate and be understudies for each other should the need arise.


October 26th – 30th

November 8th / 15th / 22nd / 29th

December 6th / 13th / 15th


Performances:    18th / 19th / 20th / 21st / 22nd December


Our loved Christmas Eve event will return in 2021 in part of a major new production for the Festive season.


We hope to meet lots of railway children at the audition to look forward to a well deserved Christmas treat for our audiences.

SYC and Pucks


We are delighted to tell you that we are planning to audition for the new Shakespeare Young Company and Pucks from 3.30pm on Wednesday 19th August 2020.


The SYC and Pucks programme is expansive, and ranges from explorations of the plays and poems to Shakespeare’s contemporaries, his influences and wider approach.


If you are excited by the work of Shakespeare then do apply to audition and we will allocate you a 15minute time slot. You will need to prepare and learn a short passage from Shakespeare approx. 15 lines to present at the audition.


We are strictly limiting numbers for SYC/Pucks in the autumn season, so do apply as soon as possible if you would like to join us.


SYC and Pucks (its younger branch) is a performance ensemble and, if accepted, you will be required to attend every session.

Playbox Professionals Training Programme 2020-21


We are pleased to invite you to consider applying for a place on our advanced programme, Playbox Professionals.


Meeting on Saturdays from 9 – 11am at the Dream Factory, this programme is intended for those members who are planning a future career in the Performing Arts.


The work covers styles, techniques, approaches for preparing Drama School / University courses and, in addition, gaining the knowledge to create and produce your own work.


We strictly limit the number of Professionals and, if you would like to be considered, do send your details, tell him which Playbox session you attend and your reason for wanting to join Professionals. We will then arrange an interview for you during August for proposed starting in September.

Our agency will hold auditions early in 2021 for the next intake. All details will be released in casting spotlight this Autumn.
