WORKSHOPS

Playbox Theatre has gained a worldwide reputation for its winning formula, developing the performing arts with young people aged 3-25.

Participants take many diverse directions through a unique programme of Acting, Circus, Music Theatre, Dance, Movement, Mime, Commedia Dell’Arte, Improvisation, Production, Voice, Stage Management, Lighting and Sound, Combat, Directing, Costume and Stage Design.

Playbox young people gain in confidence, skills and talent, many pursue careers in the arts... all emerge as imaginative and resourceful individuals.

The Dream Factory and our regional training and performance studios offer workshops for all ages.  Groups are led by our resident staff with with guest directors and experts from all disciplines and backgrounds.

The Apple Club for 5 to 7 year olds incorporates storytelling, movement and role-play.  Sessions are designed to develop imagination, confidence and ability.

Acting Workshops  This is our central training for 8 to 18 year olds and explores the potential of voice, movement, mime, devising and improvisation.  Workshops develop talent and confidence in a range of performance and life skills.

Voice & The Young Actor places the focus on developing voice through verse speaking and poetry. Incorporating LAMDA examinations, the course reflect our ambition to encourage young people to love reading, exploring and presenting text.

Music Theatre Facing the challenges and excitement of the musical theatre repertoire, each season culminates in an informal staging of our discoveries. Be it our own creation of Music Theatre or an existing Broadway Extravaganza. We will explore the process of creating music theatre and how it has evolved as well as  developing our own performance skills.
