Shakespeare Young Company is now in its 7th year at Playbox Theatre, bringing a specialised focus for young people interested in developing their confidence, skills and techniques to perform in the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries.

When accepted in SYC, the ensemble train in the studio, participate in the Shakespeare Lab, create productions for a variety of theatre, outdoor venues and tours. In 2014 four SYC original productions played in the USA at Santa Monica Playhouse.

SYC is divided into a series of ensembles. Pucks provides a thorough introduction to younger actors of the ensemble, followed by graduation into the SYC companies. Having presented Macbeth and As You Like It in Spring 2015, preparations begin for a large-scale event for the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death in 1616, Games and Thrones – Henry VI, which will open at The Dream Factory, Warwick before touring.

In order to be a member of SYC, you must additionally train weekly in one of our Theatre workshops, ensuring that all young actors enage with theatre skills and practitioners from across the arts spectrum.
