About Us

Playbox Theatre in 2016 will celebrate 30 years as a unique theatre and performing arts company for an with young people. Since earliest beginnings in 1986, Playbox Theatre has developed high quality theatre and performance training alongside artistic creations for and with young people, placing at its heart the young as both artists and audience. Playbox Theatre exists to provide young people and developing artists a unique environment for training, creation and exploration in theatre and related artistic forms.

Playbox Theatre has a custom designed complex, The Dream Factory in Warwick.  The company develops the skills, talent and confidence of young people through exciting and innovative methods including theatre, movement, circus, multimedia and extraordinary live events.

Throughout each year, Playbox Theatre offers a wide range of programmes and activities for young people to learn and develop skills across the arts, from workshops and master classes to laboratories and productions at The Dream Factory, on tour nationally and internationally, and in regional training and performance studios.

With a passionate belief in the evolution of a strong artistic network embracing a wide age group with different experience, social, religious and cultural backgrounds, Playbox Theatre complements the core programme through relationships with schools, colleges, international learning academies and other institutions.

Young artists push boundaries creating original work which reflects our age, our values, our debates our concerns, our humour and more importantly our dream.  We state what we think theatre should be, not what others think or expect, we break taboos and challenge labels that young people just don’t want.
